Lovely hotel with beautiful gardens. The staff were friendly, there is a health club attached. One tip, the road that leads to the hotel is in a poor state of repair, drive slowly as you approach.

The lady in reception who was working until 11pm was VERY helpful. Lovely lady. Maybe late 40s or so, didn’t catch her name. The rooms being key operated shows their age and the lock on the door didn’t work, but I felt safe anyway! :)

Average hotel with minimum quality specially bathrooms. Just if no other options available then you can stay there.

The hotel was nice, had a convention while we were there so it was loud and busy in the reception area but you couldn’t hear anything in the rooms. only downside was no wifi in rooms for free and the cards kept deactivating if you had it near electronics

I will never ever stay here again. No safety deposit facilities either in the room or reception. Wi-Fi in the room was a staggering seven pounds per device per room each day, unlike most hotels, where it is generally free. Some of the staff, particularly one of the bar personnel, were surly and unhelpful. On top of all this, the decor was crumbling and in urgent need of replacement, like some of the employees. Anyone looking for a hotel in Coventry would be wise to avoid this place, which when visited on the weekend of July 14-17 was full of visitors using co**** and inappropriate language. Ugh, a real horror of a property.

The hotel is spending a lot of money on re carpeting and room refurbishment which makes the stay more enjoyable but for me the food needs to improve. Bar meal last visit was served on a cold plate, so a cold meal. Breakfast is unappetising so I eat elsewhere. 3 night stay with no room service means the 4 tea bags and milk doesn’t last. But the hotel has improved greatly from where it was and does some great room rate deals.

Ok stayed in this hotel before its a nice hotel but this time round, the side lamp didn't not even have a bulb inside, there wasn't a shower just a bath and over all a average looking room not ever moden.

What a dreadful hotel! Britannia hotels should be ashamed to have it's brand associated with the place. The approach rings alarm bells. A poorly maintained drive, untrimmed trees, last years leaves still lying around and a poster warning of thieves. Then you reach the dirty, deteriorating, once tarmaced car park. You are not allowed to park at the hotel entrance to unload as it is required for fire access. In the morning coaches are allowed to park there but I was not. We carried our 3 suitcases and 4 other bags to reception and were given room 108 which I assumed was on the first floor. A walk through reception and the bar plus a climb up 11 flights of stairs via numerous fire doors eventually brought us to our room. There was no lift and no one to assist us as the hotel was fully booked. Our room was a disappointment. It was in the eves and despite being a hot day was cold. The radiator did not work and the windows and their frame were cracked and broken and had not been cleaned in a very long time. There were even crumbs on the floor. The mug and cup in the room had not been washed either. There were dead flies in the lampshade and dirty marks on the walls. The bed was from another age and only good for for the tip. The base was solid and was more like two old coffee tables than a base. The mattress did not fit and sagged. The springs creaked every time I moved. In almost 50 years of using hotels this bed was the worst I have ever experienced and I hardly slept. I tried to change the room. The first unsmiling receptionist just said 'No, fully booked' and just walked away. The second was more helpful and promised to move us in the morning. In the morning another very helpful receptionist assured me that it was not a problem and everything would be fine. The only catch was that I was expected to bring all my bags to reception for safe storage. No help was available. When we returned in the evening no one at reception knew anything and we had to start over again. We viewed two rooms and the receptionist told us that every room had the same base and mattress. We chose the newest mattress and used the duvet as extra softening. We asked for 2 extra sheets and were promised them within 15 minutes. Over an hour later....... This hotel is tired and dated, it was last refurbished in 2008 and it shows. The lift in the "newer" part of the hotel is ramshackle, the carpets in the common areas show spillage and vomit stains. The rooms are very basic and are decorated in the same vein. Cleaning procedures are very poor indeed. At almost £10 breakfast is over priced as is the rest of the menu. The dining room was a dirty mess with uncleared tables. On the Internet the hotel filters as has having free wi-fi and a pool. On the booking confirmation you discover that it is only free in the public areas and there it is very slow. They charge £7 a night if you want to access it in your room. More than double the price of most hotels that still charge while the majority are free. The pool is £4 per visit which is not advertised on the website either. They seem to keep going by hosting cheap coach tours who may much less than I did. I could go on about the misleading website that does not show the hotel as it is today, the dirty corridors, the missing shower guard, the cracked tiles, the poor decor and the awful grounds maintenance but I am losing the will to live. Overall, my advice would be to avoid this hotel and pick somewhere that is up to date, understands what customer service is and is decorated and furnished to a higher standard. This one functions as a poor version of a budget hotel. At no point during our stay did any member of staff contact us to discover if we were happy with our stay. This was despite all of the issues we raised.
